“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers they will not overflow you. When you walk through the fires, you will not be scorched.” Is. 43:2
Many people are going through very difficult times; you may be one of them. Recently, I received a call from a single mom whose only child was murdered when he was 28. I can’t think of anything more devastating than that. Though her heartache remains, she has grown to develop her artistic talents and she serves the Lord. Others may be living in a painful and difficult marriage, dealing with relentless medical problems, facing the death of a beloved spouse, grieving through a divorce – the painful list could go on and on.
Our radio program brings blessings and hope through personal testimonies of women and men who have overcome their difficult situations through the strength of Christ. Their stories offer encouragement and point our listeners in the right direction. No one has a perfect life and each of us struggles to forgive. It is not easy and we need the help of Jesus.
As you read these scriptures and meditate on them, remember to desire God’s will. He knows better than we do what is best for us. Paul wrote some of these verses while he was in prison. It is hard to comprehend how many people who have been blessed by his words, and that they were written in circumstances that any one of us would have found impossible to endure.
And my God shall supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus. Phil. 4:19
And God is able to make all grace abound to you, that always having all sufficiency in everything, you may have an abundance for every good deed. . 2 Cor. 9:8
Now to Him who is able to do exceeding abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, . Eph. 3:20
And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. Rm. 8:28
“With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” Matt. 19:26
And Jesus said to him, “If You can! All things are possible to him who believes.” Mark 9:23
“If you ask Me anything in My name, I will do it.” John 14:14
“You did not choose Me, but I chose you, and appointed you, that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask of the Father in My name, He may give to you.” John 15:16
Patsy Oda’s life, which she shares in her book Heart’s Desire, is a beautiful example of God turning difficulty into blessings. She was born into a Buddhist family and came to Christ when she was eight years old. She suffered much rejection. Patsy has a passion for people to understand who God is and to know His love for them. Her books and booklets share the simple truth of the gospel. You can order her book Heart’s Desire through A Woman’s Special Touch or on Amazon, where you can find it in both hard copy and e-book format. A list of her books and booklets are provided for you on the back of this newsletter. Patsy’s material has reached far and wide, making an impact on many people.
In my book of The Shepherd and The Sheep I share incredible stories of women I have interviewed. Emily Vaughn’s story is amazing. After 20 years of marriage and five children, her husband left her for a younger woman. Emily was devastated and it took many years to forgive him. Eventually, his second marriage ended in divorce and he was diagnosed with cancer. Through God’s grace Emily offered him the guest room in her home, and she and their children cared for him until his death. You can learn more details of her story in my book and the radio interviews with Emily.
What a joy to share these stories over the airwaves around the world. Lives are being changed and strengthened by them. We are hearing from people across the nation and from other parts of the world.
