Dear Friends, Sitting in my prayer closet, seeking guidance from the Lord, I came upon 1 Corinthians 16:9 which says, for a wide door for effective service has opened to me, and there are many adversaries. That spoke to the situation I was praying about. We have been offered an opportunity to expand the ministry, but there are obstacles – one is finances, but there are many others. As more stations air the program, we become more of a target for the enemy, and I was already feeling battle fatigue. However, as I did a word search on “adversary,” new strength and joy flooded my soul.

Dear Friends, My husband and I left the house to do some errands; returning home, we saw that an oak tree had fallen in our yard. It had just leafed out and there had been no wind – so why had it fallen over? I began to ponder, and was reminded of some thoughts from my power-point presentation on “Trees of the Bible.” Oaks of Righteousness is the first painting - it comes from Isaiah 61:1-3. These scriptures teach us a great deal about Christ and also about what we are to do as those who belong to Him.

Dear Friends,
Recently, I prayed with a lady in Alabama who called the ministry office requesting programs that dealt with abuse. She had suffered verbal and physical abuse, had been sexually abused through incest, and she was living in poverty.  We sent her several testimonies from our program archives. Not only did I pray that God would surround her with His love and protection, but I also prayed that, through the power of Jesus, she would be able to forgive those who had abused her.

Dear Friends,
We had a wonderful Thanksgiving with family and looked forward to Christmas.  However, sometime between the two celebrations, I began to feel spiritually drained.  I was lacking joy and enthusiasm, so I looked up all the scriptures on joy, quoting many of them during the day – verses like “The joy of the Lord is my strength.” I was even planning to share many of the scriptures with you for the month of January, but I was not getting what I needed. Something was wrong.

Newsletter, December 2014

Dear Friends,
December is the month we celebrate the birth of Christ, so let’s take a moment to consider some of the prophecies of His birth in The Old Testament.
Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold a virgin will be with child and bear a son, and she will call His name Immanuel (God is with us).  Isaiah 7:14
For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; and the government will rest on His shoulders; and His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6
Who would have thought this same one, born in a stable in Bethlehem, was the one God was sending to redeem mankind as foretold in Isaiah 53: He has no stately form or majesty that we should look upon Him, nor appearance that we should be attracted to Him.  He was despised and forsaken of men, a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief; and like one from whom men hide their face, He was despised, and we did not esteem Him.  Surely our griefs He Himself bore, and our sorrows He carried; yet we ourselves esteemed Him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.  But He was pierced through for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the chastening for our wellbeing fell upon Him, and by His scourging we are healed.  Isaiah 53:2b-5
In The Old Testament there are many more prophecies concerning Christ’s second coming than His first.  Therefore, many missed His first coming.  Jesus knew His purpose in coming, and He knew it would be difficult to fulfill, but He was willing to give His life so that our sins would be forgiven and we could spend eternity with Him.
God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life. John 3:16
Believing in Him simply requires understanding that we are sinners in need of a savior, repenting of our sins, and inviting Him into our lives.  He comes in the Holy Spirit and indwells believers and we are born again.  Jesus said, “… unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”   John 3:3
“Enter by the narrow gate; for the gate is wide, and the way is broad and leads to destruction, and many are those who enter by it.  For the gate is small, and the way is narrow that leads to life, and few are those who find it.  Beware of the false prophets who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves.”  Matthew 7:13-15
Jesus is the narrow gate.  He said, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but through Me.”  John 14:6
There are those who falsely believe that no one goes to hell.   That is not what the Bible says. I counted 58 verses that speak of hell or the lake of fire.
And death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire.  This is the second death, the lake of fire.  And if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.  Revelation 20:14-15
It is important to know the word of God and to love Him with all your heart and soul; to put Him first in your life; to seek His will, and ask for discernment.  Jesus warns us that there will be false prophets that will lead many astray.
Put on the full armor of God, that you may be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil.  For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.  Therefore, take up the full armor of God, that you may be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything to stand firm. Stand firm therefore, HAVING GIRDED YOUR LOINS WITH TRUTH, and HAVING PUT ON THE BREASTPLATE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS, and having shod YOUR FEET WITH THE PREPARATION OF THE GOSPEL OF PEACE; in addition to all, taking up the shield of faith with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming missiles of the evil one.  And take the HELMET OF SALVATION and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.  With all prayer and petition pray at all times in the Spirit, and with this in view, be on the alert with all perseverance and petition for all the saints.  Ephesians 6:11-18
Praise and Prayer

Please pray for the financial needs of the ministry.  We are reaching out to many, many places and we need financial support to continue to spread the gospel.

Dear Friends,
I recently had a phone call from a listener who asked if I knew of a Christian based group that helps adults who were sexually abused as children.  I have not found a group that meets the criteria, but I realized that a number of our radio programs could be of help.  I sent the listener five interviews with Christian counselor, Dr. Durlynn Garten on “Childhood Sexual Abuse,” along with four other programs in which victims of sexual abuse share their stories and the healing they have found in Jesus Christ.
